| Research Abstract |
The project of our research is in making the systhematical index of the technical terms used in the Japanese commentaries of the Rishu-kyo(or the Adhyardhasatika Prajnaparamita) which are comprised in the Taisho-shinshu-daizokyo vols.60,61(Zoku-kyosho-bu Nos.5,6). We picked up not only the terms of Buddhist doctrine and practice, but also of the otherfield of human studies and natural science, and put them in alphabetical order classifing them systematically.
In these two volumes(Taisho 60,61), many kinds of texts which have been studied as the fundamental texts in Shingon Sect are contained: namely, Rishukyo-kaidai and Shinjitukyo-monku expounded by Kukai Rishukyo-shujishaku by Kakuban Dairakukyo-kengisho by Saishin Rishushaku-hiyosho by Goho (written down by Genho) and some commentaries on Kongocho-kyo(Vajrasekara) and Dainichi-kyo(Mahavairocanabhisambodhi) also(which are inseparably related to the doctrin of the Rishu-kyo).
Our research works in 1986 were; 1.Understanding the contents of the texts by checking up the manuscript based on textual criticism 2.Picking up the terms from the texts 3.Carding of the terms 4.Classifing the terms under 30 headings with systematical analysis 5.Adding kana-readings to the terms in order to arrange them into alphabetical order, in1987; 1.Putting the terms into alphabetical order, and classfication were completed, 2.Compiling the terms into the Index and preparation of publication of the Index were continued, in 1988; 1.Carring forward the preparation for publishing the Index. Being based on this research works, we could appreciate the distinctive character of the texts, the terminology of the citing texts, and the commentator's methodology.
