Research Abstract |
1. Mutual-aid-systems are very varions but in Sawauchi Village and Kanegasakitoun, where we investigated, one type of systemis dominant in each area. Those are 'Kaya-Mujin'(A)in Sawauchi and 'Akibasan-Keishin-Ko'(B)in Kanegasaki, and they are in contrast. 2.(A)is not systematic or people are not organized. It is only a relation between'Ie'and another'Ie'. They help each other when they build a house and has no other function such as religious function nor economical function. Each houshold keeps a notebook as to delivery and receipt of labowr and gifts. This relation spread almost all over the area. 3.(B)is essentially a fire insurance organization but it has religious function and amusemental function. The members are systematicaly organazed and in old days (until about 1960) (B) was almost a self government of the area. The beginning of economical grouth and the ratinalization of life attacked the organization. First (B) has almost lost the religions function and next it has come to lose the function of amusement and solidarity of members. 4. We are now analysing why (A)and(B) wouldn't disappear. what is latent function of them?
