Research Abstract |
In the report of Grant-in Aid for Scientific Reserch in 1986, We could evaluate the bronchial responsiveness (bronchial sensitivity(Dmin) and reactivity(St)) in younger children using "Asthograh" and transcutaneous PO2 monitor. This year, we studied the correlation between these parameters and clinical severity of asthmatic children. Furthermore, we examined the change in bronchialhyperresponsiveness in children with asthma and without respiratory diseases. Following results were obtained: 1) The value of Dmin in three subgroups of atopic asthna were lower than in disease controls. The values of Dmin in mild asthna group was higher than moderate and severe asthma groups. 2) There was significant correlationship between CVR-R and St. 3) The values of St in nonatiopic asthma was higher than in atopic asthma. 4) The siblings of asthmatic children, who showed no bronchial hyperresponsiveness on the initial test, developped asthma. Their Dmin was markedly decreased on the second test within one year of the elicitation of asthmatic attack in comparison with that of the intial teat. These results suggested that-acquired factors might be involved in the development of hyperresponsiveness in children.
