Research Abstract |
Ras and myc oncogenes were studied in small hepatocelullar carcinoma (HCC)by in situ hybridization technique. The expression of ras oncogene was increased in 2 of 3 HCC (less than 3 cm), but not in 2 small hyperplastic nodules. Increased expression of ras and myc genes were not found in 7 autopsy HCC specimens, nor in cirrhotic livers. It is indicated that in situ hybridization technique could not only elucidate the mechanism of hepatocarcinogenesis but also become powerful diagnostic tool.
