Research Abstract |
INVESTIGATORS WHO USE PRIMARILY ARTHROGRAPHY CITE ITS RELATIVES EASE AND THE FACT THAT IT IS THE ONLY TECHIQUE THAT ALLOWS IDENTIFICATION OF DISK PERFORATION. BUT,WITH WIDESPREAD USE OF THE MODERM TMJ ARTHROGRAPHY,IT HAS BEEN EASY TO DIAGNOSE DISK POSITION,DISK MOVEMENT AND INTEGRITY OF THE DISK,DESPITE RECENT ADVANCES IN DIAGNOSTIC ARTHROGRAPHY,CURRENT TECHNIQUES FOR RADIOGRAPHIC EVALUATION OF THE DISK FORM CONTINUE TO PRESENT THE CLINICIAN WITH DIFFICULT PROBLEMS INTERPRETATION AND DIAGNOSIS. THEN,THIS STUDY HAS CHALLENGED THE NEW TECHNIQUE TO DEMONSTRATE THE THREEDIMENSIONAL DISK FORM WITH PERSOMAL COMPUTER AND COSMOZONE-2S SYSTEM FORM ARTHROTOMOGRAMS. THE USE OF THREE-DIMENSIONAL DISK IMAGES IMPROVES THE DIAGNOSTIC VALUE OF CONVENTIONAL ARTHROTOMOGRAM AT NO ADDITIONAL RISK TO THE PATIENTS AND MAY PROVIDE NEW INSIGHTS INTO THE COMPLEX DISK DEFORMITY IN THE PATIENTS WITH INTERNAL DERANGEMENTS OF TMJ.
