Research Abstract |
We investigated the abnormal behavior and communication disorders of dementia in institution elderly and home elderly. Subjects were a total of 248 cases (61 males and 187 females) in Y nursing home,and a total of 30 cases (8 males and 22 females) in homes. 1.The results were as follows in institution elderly. 1) 32% of institional elderly were classified into Dementia(0-10 points in scales) by Hasegawa Dementia Scale, 26% in males and 33% in females. 2) Incidence of demential became higher with increasing of ages. 3) There were relation between degree of Dementia and ADL of eldely. 2. The results were as follows for 30 dementia (8 males and 22 females) in the home. 1) Over 80% of families with dementia complained the abnormal behavior and communication disorders of them. 2) Half of dementia had the effective method of relieving anxiety and strain. We felt that we must offer not only nursing care to the each disorder, but also total care to dementia. Also,we must search dementia how into throw ourselves into dementias' feelings.
