Research Abstract |
THERE ARE NOT A FEW TOXIC FACTORS ON HYGIENE IN OUR ENVIRONMENT. BY KNOWING WHAT FACTORS WERE HARMFUL TO HEALTH, AN EFFECTIVE PREVENTION AGAINST THE OUTBREAK OF THE SYMPTOMS WILL BE MADE POSSIBLE. THIS STUDY HAS AIMED HEMATOPOIETIC SYSTEM AND DETECTION OF MALFUNCTION AN EARLY STAGE. 1. OF THE 79 WORKERS EXPOSED TO LOW CONCENTRATION LEAD (LESS THAN 20 H/d1 IN BLOOD), 15(19.0%) WAS RECOGNIZED THAT URINARY COPROPORPHYRIN I WAS AT AN ABNORMALLY HIGHER LEVEL THAN COPROPORPHYRIN III,ALTHOUGH THERE WERE NO SIGNIFICANT DIFFERENCES IN ANEMIA INDICATIONS. 2. COPROPORPHYRIN III TENDED TO INCREASE IN THE URINE OF MICE INJECTED BERYLLIUM. IT SEEMS TO BE INDIRECT CHANGES INDUCED BY HEPATIC DISORDER, NOT TO BE DIRECTLY EFFECTED TO HEMATOPOIETIC SYSTEM. 3. DERMATITIS TRAUMATICA AND MEDICAMENTOSA WERE MADE IN EXPERIMENTAL ANIMALS (RABBITS). DISAPPEARANCE OF DERMATITIS WAS SHOWN TO CORRELATE WITH THE INCREASE OF URINARY COPROPORPHYRIN III. THESE MAY SUGGEST THAT DERMATITIS EFFECT HEMATOPOIETIC SYSTEM. 4. FEMALE STUDENTS OF HIGH SCHOOL BELONGING TO THE SPORT TEAM TENDED TO HAVE ANEMIA IN ADDITION TO IRON DEFICIENCY AND CHANGES OF HEMATOGENIC ENZYME ACTIVITY. ON THE OTHER HAND, INCREASE OF NUMBER OF WHITE BLOOD CELLS WAS FOUND IN HEALTHY FEMALE STUDENTS RECEIVED TRAINING ON A TREADMIL, AND THEN RECOVERED 30 MINUTES AFTER TRAINING. URINARY UROPORPHYRIN AND COPROPORPHYRIN II BEGUN TO INCREASE AS COMPARED WITH NORMAL LEVELS FROM AT THIS TIME, AND THEY SHOWED THE HIGHEST LEVEL 1 HOUR AFTER TRAINING. THIS TENDENCY WAS REMARKABLE IN STUDENTS RECEIVED HARD TRAINING. 5. THE MEASUREMENT OF PORPHOBILINOGEN DEAMINASE ACTIVITY IN ERYTHROCYTES PROVED TO BE VERY EFFECTIVE IN DETECTING ACUTE INTERMITTENT PORPHYRIA (AIP) AND CARRIERS. THIS CASE OF DISTINCTLY HEREDITARY AIP IS PROBABLY THE FIRST FINDING IN JAPAN. AN EARLY DETECTION OF AIP CARRIERS BY SCREENING TESTS AND GENEALOGICAL SURVEYS WILL HELP IN PREVENTING THE OUTBREAK OF THE SYMPTOMS.
