Research Abstract |
The present study represents the fourth in a longitudinal survey of Honolulu residents by the Institute of Statistical Mathematics in Tokyo in cooperation with the University of Hawaii at Manoa. The first sample survey of 1971 included Honolulu voters of Japanese ancestry only, while the last three surveys included all registered voters in Honolulu. The report contains four chapters, beginning with "Introduction" and ending with"Concluding Remarks". The second chapter reports on highlights of the 1988 survey of all sample respondents while the third chapter focuses on Japanese Americans in a comparative perspective, i.e., how they have changed from 1971 to 1988 and how they compare with non-Japanese American compatriots.
