| Research Abstract |
In 1988, for two months in Jilin and Liaoning Provinces of Peopeles Republic of China, our project-team ofserved historical places relating to the early Qing dynasty in Changbaishan, Fuyu, Jilin, Xingcheng, Beizhen and Fushun in collaboration with the Chinese scholars team. We also investigated the archival sources and rare books on the Manchus at the Libraries of Jilin University, Dongbei Normal University, and at the Liaoning Province Library. Our team invited three Chinese members to Japan, and organized a Sino-Japanese joint symposium on the early Qing history.
In 1989, again for two weeks in Heilongjiang Province, we also observed historical ruins, such as Sanxing along Songhua River, and Ningguta on Mudan River, A part of our team traced the old Manchu-Korean routes in Lianing Provence. In addition to the field work, our team investigated the Manchu historical sources at the Archives in Changchun and Beijing. After our visit to China, we held a meeting in Tokyo, to complete our research together with the other three Chinese members.
