Research Abstract |
This project aimed to develop a curriculum of information education for the secondary level and for teacher education, and to investigate the present situation of information education in schools. For the framework of development, five stages were identified for the collaborative studies ; (1) ideal curriculum, (2) officially approved curriculum, (3) planned curriculum, (4) executed curriculum, and (5) experienced curriculum. In the first part, participating researchers discussed the issues on the ideal curriculum suitable to information society, and summarized the curriculum officially approved by the Ministry of Education, Science and Culture. In the second part, results from the survey of secondary schools were described, focusing on the present situation in high schools and middle schools. From this analysis, it was revealed that the curriculum in general courses at high schools is influenced by the conventional vocational education except some examples.
