Research Abstract |
In this study, three-dimensional structure of turbulent flowfields around buildings were investigated by using the wind tunnel tests and the numerical simulation from the view point of the environmental design for outdoor living space around buildings. In wind tunnel tests, the multi-channel anemometer system, which can measure instantaneous velocity at 144 different points were developed and distributions of maximum velocities, gust and peak factors were measured by this method. On the other hand, the accuracy of numerical simulation based on Large Eddy Simulation was improved by comparing the numerical results with those from wind tunnel tests. The relation between three-dimensional turbulent structure, and strong gusts near buildings were examined precisely using the data obtained from wind tunnel tests and the numerical simulation. Many useful results for wind environmental design around buildings were given throughout this study.
