| Research Abstract |
岩礁潮間帯では、高潮帯に生息する小型蔓脚類イワフジツボについて個体群生態を研究し、異なる潮位にすむ分集団間で繁殖特性と個体群の人口学的諸過程に顕著な差を見出した、全繁殖量(幼生放出量)と幼生の定着加入量を各分集団別に推定し、全地域集団に対する各分集団の繁殖貢献度を推定し、個体群維持機構について検討した。一方潮間帯における強力なグレイザ-であるヒザラガイ(軟体動物、多板綱)は、活撥な摂餌活動によりフジツボ等の固着動物をも死亡させ岩礁の群集組成にも影響を与える。野外における囲い込み、排除実験により、種間相互作用の内容と強度について評価した。転石地の植食性貝類のギルドについても各種の空間分布、食物利用について研究を続けており、期間内には群集組成の地域差、各種の潮位勾配に関する分布についてとりまとめた。
海藻上に生息する端脚目甲殼類ワレカラについては、付着基質である海藻現存量の著しい季節変動に対応したワレカラ類の個体群維持について研究した。殊に海藻流出季における葉上動物の行動的反応、流れ藻上の種構成の経時変化、個体群の運命について人工流れ藻を作って実験し、流失時の行動に種特異な差があることを確めた。また、ふ化した幼体を保育する習性を持つワレカラ数種を発見し、繁殖諸特性との関連について考察した。
分布北限に近い九州沿岸における造礁サンゴ群集の研究では、周年の潜木調査により種類相と生態分布の実態についてほぼ明らかにすることができた。有性繁殖の可能性については、野外及び飼育観察によって13種2変種について有性生殖を確認し、繁殖季、生殖活動の太陰周期との関連について検討した。幼生の定着加入、サンゴの種内・種間の群体間の相互作用、サンゴと他生物との相互関係についてもある程度の知見を得たが、今後もひき続き研究を行う必要がある。
