Research Abstract |
The aim of our study is to establish the culture system of human coronary artery endothelial cells, because the establishment is indispensable for the studies of the pathogenesis of coronary artery sclerosis. We have done many trials on autopsied materials. Since coronary arteries from younger subjects without apparent coronary artery sclerosis were thought to be the appropriate materials for this purpose, we examined several fetus materials as well. With all our efforts, we have not yet succeeded in the culture of coronary artery endothelial cells. Now we are doing more than we did the culture trials on human materials. We are also doing preliminary studies using porcine coronary arteries. To our knowledge, there have been no reports showing the successful establishment of human coronary artery endothelial cell culture.
