Research Abstract |
The purpose of this study is to develop intraluninal sutureless prosthesis with shape memory alloy ring which could be inserted through distal artery( ie.femoral or external iliac a ) by means of conventional catheterization method. Although several types of prosthesis were tried, it was very difficult to deform them so small enough to be inserted through distal arteries. So we developed another type of prosthesis which made of shape memory alloy plate, namely, thin long plate of shape memory alloy is rolled spirally, and formed tubular shape. We made two different size of this type , one was 10mm in diameter,40mm in length and another 20mm in diameter 40mm in length. Small one was deformed very easily to 3mm in diameter in the bath of cold water and big one was to 5mm in diameter in the same manner. And then, we successfully resumed then in the mock circulation system by warming themselves electrically. Further study is needed, but this easy deformity could make it possible to insert this type of prosthesis through distal arteries.
