Research Abstract |
The new concept for temperature measurement at more than 1000゚C has been developed. Carbon monoxide present in the furnace was monitored by an infrared optical sensor with the Fourier Transform Infrared Spectrometer (FTIR). Zinc selenide lens and KRS-5 infrared optical fiber was placed in the water cooled sensor. The shape of the spectrum was examined as an index for the temperature. The determination of the temperature (from 1000 to 1550゚C) of CO was possible by measuring the spectrum at Pco=0.3-1.0 atm. The vibrational- rotational temperature was also calculated based on the spectrum obtained, showing far lower temperature than that of the furnace. Results would be summarized as; (1)New method of temperature determination of high temperature CO gas was developed. (2)The shape factor of the spectrum, ln Sr, was examined as an index for the temperature. (3)ln Sr was independent of Pco for Pco=0.3-1.0 atm. (4)The determination of the temperature of CO by ln Sr of the spectrum was unaffected by Pco for 0.3-1.0 atm. (5)The vibrational-rotational temperature was far lower than the furnace temperature.
