Research Abstract |
For simultaneous measurements of the concentration of flowing drift sand and its size distribution, we studied a sensor based on the light cutoff method between a luminous element and a sensitive element. Using a standard polystilene latex particles 92mum radius and sea water, some fundamental working characteristics were examined with a device consisted of a light cutoff detector ks-63, a particle counter kl-10 and a syringe sampler kz-30s. They are made of Lion Ltd. Followings are obtained; 1) Current volume: 70-100 ml/min. Introducing direction of the materials is suitable in horizontal position. 2) Practicable concentration: o-300 n/ml is reliable. Over the above concentration, counting loss is gradually increased. 3) Radius resolution: 15mum in 100mum fixation. From the fundamental experiments and preliminary observations, the device was found to be useful for the simultaneous measurements of the concentration of flowing drift sand and its size distribution. On an inexpensive integral field survey meter for the concentration measurement of flowing drift sand, a device was work out a design and trial manufacture is going on.
