Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本研究では、これまで助触媒の最適化やバンドエンジニアリングにより金属から半導体に注入された電子を水素発生助触媒にスムースに輸送する機構について明らかにしてきた。平成28年度は、微小共振器とプラズモンを強結合させることにより可視光の幅広い波長域に吸収を示す光吸収体を構築してプラズモン誘起水分解系における水素・酸素発生効率の増強を図った。ガラス基板上に130 nm厚の金を成膜し、その上に原子層堆積装置を用いて酸化チタンを任意の厚み成膜した後、さらにその上に金のスパッタリング成膜(3 nm)およびアニーリング(300℃)により金ナノ粒子を作製した。反射スペクトル(R)と透過スペクトル(T)を測定したところ、酸化チタンの膜厚が28 nmのときに、波長500 nmから660 nmの領域において90%以上の光が反射や透過を示さず、高効率な光吸収が金ナノ粒子において誘起されていることが明らかになった。3電極系の光電気化学測定により光電流のアクションスペクトルを測定したところ、吸収スペクトル(1-T-R)とほぼ同様の形状のアクションスペクトルが計測された。また、波長500 nmから660 nmの領域において外部量子収率が0.7%程度得られ、従来の研究と比較して高効率なプラズモン誘起光電変換を確認した。特筆すべきは、金ナノ粒子を酸化チタン層に若干埋め込むことにより、微小共振器とプラズモンの結合度合いが強まり、吸収スペクトルが2つのバンドに分裂する現象を明らかにした点である。これにより、吸収スペクトルの広帯域化に成功した。金ナノ粒子が4 nm酸化チタン層に埋め込まれた光電極では、波長525 nmから750 nmの領域で90%以上の光が閉じ込められることが明らかになった。また、光電流のアクションスペクトルもスペクトルの分裂と広帯域化を実現し、さらに2電極系の水分解実験において高効率な水素と酸素の発生を明らかにした。
