Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
Morphogenesis in the developing period occurs in three-dimensional (3D) manner. To understand sequential changes taking place in the human embryo, 3D models is essential for help to grasp the overview of those dynamic morphological alterations temporally and spatially. Since 1961, a large number of human embryos and fetuses have been collected at Congenital Anomaly Research Center, Kyoto University, and it is now called “Kyoto Collection of Human Embryos”. Using histological sections from the Kyoto Collection, we aim to make 3D models of embryonic organs and apply them to self-learning program of human embryology. The progress in FY2015 is below; Mechanical setup and preliminary model production. Main high-spec computer for this research is bought and constructed. We prepare complete sets of serial section of human embryos, and segment organ system manually such as central nervous system (CNS), digestive system. Next, we try the automatic registration of serial section images, and make 3D models. We will make 3D models about the central nervous system. The next year; Using 3D models made in FY2015, we start to apply the models to tutorials of human embryology. We also segment other organ system and reconstruct 3D models.

Current Status of Research Progress |
Current Status of Research Progress
2: Research has progressed on the whole more than it was originally planned.
Reason
神経系の3Dモデルができており、次年度の教材作成の準備が整っている。また、筋骨格系についても同様のモデルが一部完成している。
|
Strategy for Future Research Activity |
平成28年度は予定通りに具体的な教材作成に入る。余裕があれば、他の臓器系の3Dモデル作成にも着手する。
