Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本研究では、半導体微細構造を活用した微小系を用いて、微小系における電子輸送、およびそのゆらぎとダイナミクスを測定した。本年度は特に高速量子プローブの性能評価、微小系における局所電子状態のダイナミクスの測定を中心に行った。
微小系における電子輸送、およびそのダイナミクスを調べるためには、微小系中の局所電子状態に直接的にアクセスでき、また高速に動作できるミクロなプローブが有用となる。このようなプローブとして、半導体量子ドットを用いたミクロなプローブを作製し、高周波測定技術を活用することにより高速な動作を実現する高速量子プローブを開発してきた。これを改良発展させて、高速量子プローブの単一電子移動の検出感度を評価し、マイクロ秒程度の積分時間で単一電荷を検出できることを確認した。またプローブ動作の安定性についても検証を行い、微小系の電子輸送現象を測定するのに十分な安定度を持つことを確認した。
またこの高速量子プローブを活用することにより、微小系における局所電子状態とそのダイナミクスの測定を開始した。微小系における局所電子状態は、基礎科学やエレクトロニクス等への応用の両面から注目を集めており、ミクロな観点からの解明が重要となる。半導体量子ドットからなる開放微小系における局所電子状態ダイナミクスを測定したところ、電子状態が時間とともに変化する様子が観測され、電子状態の時間変化を単一電荷のレベルで測定することができた。
