Outline of Annual Research Achievements

スポラディックE層 (Es層) は, 短波を利用した通信や放送に影響を及ぼすことから社会貢献の観点においても重要度の高い電離圏擾乱現象であり, 動態の解明や予測が求められている. 本課題では, Es層の主成分イオンを構成する金属イオンの動態, 及び金属イオンの予備軍である金属原子の動態に焦点をあて, 特に, 高エネルギー粒子に対する金属イオン・金属原子層の応答を観測的にあきらかにする. 得られた観測的知見をベースにした化学的考察から多種の金属イオンの応答推定を展開し, 高エネルギー粒子に対する金属イオン層の動態変化を探っていく. これらを通じ, 電離圏擾乱 (Es層) の動態解明や予測研究に資することを目指す.

本年度は, 前年度に収集した金属イオン・金属原子密度 (Na, Mg+, など) のグローバルデータの統計的解析を予定通りに実施した. その結果, オーロラ活動の活発化に伴い Na 密度が減少すること, Mg+ 密度が上昇すること, などが判明した. オーロラ活動に伴う高エネルギー粒子による金属原子 (Na) 及び 金属イオン (Mg+) の応答メカニズムを探るため, 1次元のシンプルな化学モデルを開発した. モデル計算結果より, 高エネルギー粒子による大気電離によって増大する電離圏イオン (NO+, O2+) が金属原子との電荷交換反応を促進することによって, 金属原子密度の減少及び金属イオン密度の上昇を引き起こすという示唆が得られた. 以上の研究成果は, オーロラ活動の活発化に伴う金属イオンの増大がEs層の活発化に寄与する可能性を示す重要な成果であると考えられる.
