Outline of Annual Research Achievements

科学衛星は、地球周辺プラズマ（地球磁気圏）環境の直接計測に大変有用であるが、「その場」観測であるため、プラズマ環境の時間・空間変化の識別や、グローバルな描像の把握が困難である。これに対し本研究は、地球磁気圏内を伝搬するELF/VLF帯のプラズマ波動の伝搬特性を活用し、限られた数の科学衛星による疎な観測情報から地球磁気圏プラズマ環境の全体像を掌握する技術の確立を目的として研究を遂行した。具体的には、
（１） 内部磁気圏衛星「あらせ」等で測定したELF/VLF帯プラズマ波の伝搬パラメータ解析ツールの開発：あらせ衛星で測定したChorusや雷ホイスラ波を抽出し、そのスペクトル形状を自動分類する方法や、波動の特性周波数を検出して衛星軌道に沿った電子密度を求めるなど、観測波動からシステマティックに伝搬パラメータを抽出する手法を開発した。またプラズマ環境に依存する電界センサを厳密に較正するために、プラズマ波の屈折率の実測値と、観測点のプラズマパラメータから導出した理論値を比較することで、電界センサ特性のプラズマ密度依存性を定量的に示した。
（２）波動の伝搬通路の理論計算（レイトレイシング）と観測結果に基づくプラズマ密度分布の推定：同一波源から伝搬してきたと考えられるコーラスや雷起源ホイスラー波を、あらせ衛星とVan Allen Probes衛星で同時観測した観測事例について、波動の到来方向と伝搬遅延時間を求め、レイトレイシングと合致するための電子密度の空間分布推定を複数例について適用し、その有効性を実証した。
