Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本研究課題は、新学術領域研究「ソフトクリスタル」の公募研究として行われたものである。外場の摂動により敏感に物質状態が反応するソフトクリスタルにおいて、テラヘルツ波の電場・磁場による物質状態の制御や、外場を用いたテラヘルツ波の制御等に関して研究を行った。
有機材料と金属微粒子等を組み合わせた系において、IVカーブにおいて双安定状態が現れる試料の作製をおこなった。AIDCN (2-amino-4, 5-imidazoldicarbontrile)とアルミニウムナノクラスタを組み合わせた系では、共蒸着による作製によって、試料作製精度が高まった。テラヘルツ電場照射によって、3桁程度の伝導度変化が得られるようになった。
コレステリック液晶にポーラスグラフェンを加え、テラヘルツ波の吸収効率を高めることによって、テラヘルツ照射による吸収により温度上昇が生じ、コレステリック液晶の色が変化することが確認できた。これは室温で簡易なテラヘルツ検出に相当する。検出可能なテラヘルツ波のパワーは0.009mWとなり簡便でありながら、高感度なテラヘルツセンサーが実現した。
テラヘルツ自由電子レーザーの照射によって磁気ドメインの反転が観測された。4THzにピークをもつテラヘルツ波パルスを磁性体ErFeO3に照射し、そのドメイン構造を顕微型ファラデー検出で観測したものである。磁気ドメイン反転の機構が、テラヘルツ照射によるdepinning効果とEntropoic forceによるものであることが分かった。
