Outline of Annual Research Achievements

光触媒反応のメカニズムを解明するためには、光励起キャリアーの挙動を調べる必要がある。自由電子はバンド内遷移に帰属される吸収を中赤外域に与える。また、トラップ電子はトラップ準位から伝導帯への電子遷移に帰属される吸収を可視から近赤外域に与える。一方、トラップ正孔は可視から近赤外域に吸収を与えるが、この吸収の起源が分かっていなかった。従来、トラップ正孔の吸収は、価電子帯からトラップ正孔への電子遷移に帰属されていた。しかし、それではトラップ正孔の準位は伝導帯の直下に来ることになってしまう。電子遷移に伴うトラップ正孔の再配向エネルギーを考慮すれば、そのエネルギー差はもう少し減少する。しかし、それでも酸化反応を引き起こすにはトラップ準位が深すぎることが問題であった。そこで、本研究では組成や構造のバリエーションが豊富な金属酸窒化物を用いて、トラップ正孔の吸収スペクトルを測定した。まずTa2O5を窒化して調製したTa3N5とTaONの拡散反射吸収スペクトルを測定すると窒化が進行するにつれて吸収端が長波長側にシフトした。次に、これらの試料の過渡吸収スペクトルを測定すると、トラップ正孔の吸収はバンドギャップの変化と連動し、バンドギャップより若干低エネルギー側に出現することが分かった。この結果をさらに詳しく調べるためにこれらと構造が異なるATaO2N (A=Ca, Sr, Ba)を用いた。Aサイトカチオンが大きくなるにつれて吸収端が長波長側にシフトした。それと同時に、トラップ正孔の吸収もバンドギャップと連動してシフトした。トラップ正孔の吸収波長は価電子帯の位置とも無関係であることから、バンドギャップの大きさそのものに相関があることを見いだした。これらの結果を考慮し、トラップ正孔の存在により価電子帯の上端が歪むことで新しい吸収が出現しこれが間接的に正孔濃度を反映するというモデルを提案した。
