量子ホール接合系における分数電荷準粒子の生成・消滅過程の研究

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

分数量子ホール系における素励起はラフリン準粒子と呼ばれ、素電荷eよりも小さな分数電荷を持つ。本課題では、この分数電荷準粒子の生成ダイナミクスを実験的に調べた。整数量子ホール系に埋め込まれた局所的な分数量子ホール系を用いて、分数電荷準粒子が生成される過程を電流ゆらぎ測定によって観測した。
1. 磁場や温度などのパラメータに対する準粒子生成現象の依存性を測定し、この現象に量子ホール系エッジ状態における電荷ダイナミクスが関わっていることを明らかにした。このダイナミクスは朝永ラッティンジャー液体モデルによってよく説明されることが分かった。
2. 上記の結果を踏まえ、整数エッジ状態を用いて朝永ラッティンジャー液体中の電荷ダイナミクスの観察を行った。並走する2本の整数エッジ状態は、スピンフルなカイラル朝永ラッティンジャー液体とみなすことができる。そこでの輸送現象は、1次元電子系特有の電荷スピン分離現象によって説明される。本研究では、この電荷スピン分離現象の直接観察に初めて成功した。
3. 量子ホールエッジ状態を利用した電荷密度波干渉計を開発した。これは将来のプラズモニクスにおける有用なデバイスと位置付けられる。
4. 電流ゆらぎ測定を用いた電子系に対するエネルギー分光測定手法を開発した。これは従来とは異なる新しい非平衡現象の研究ツールであり、非平衡電流ゆらぎの研究にとって大いに有用であると期待される。
