| Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
平成24～28年度（繰り越しのため実質的に29年度まで）に実施した「新海洋像」総括班として、1）領域成果の取りまとめ、2）国際的な成果の発信、3）国際研究集会の開催を行った。1）として平成29年5月および30年3月に総括班会議を開催し、前者は事後報告書の取りまとめ、後者は8～10月に亜熱帯北太平洋で実施した領域主催の白鳳丸KH－17-4次航海の結果を含めた成果取りまとめであった。2）の国際的な発信としては、5月に開催された日米の地球物理学連合合同大会（千葉）においてFuture Earth Global Hub 所長らとFuture Earth海洋セッションを開催して領域の成果を発表、2月に米国ポートランド（オレゴン州）で開催されたThe 2018 Ocean Sciences Meetingにおける成果発表のために2名派遣し、海の基本台帳からの成果である太平洋における食物連鎖構造と、海洋区系からの成果である低次生産レベルの生物地理の将来予測について発表、さらに、チェコ科学アカデミーInstitute of MicrobiologyおよびGlobal Change Research Centreを訪問して、「新海洋像」の成果発表と今後の共同研究について討議した。3）としては、2月15日に国際研究集会「Sciences behind decision-making process for conservation and sustainable use of the ocean」を東京大学で開催し、海外の一線級研究者を交えて海洋の恵みを持続的に利用する方途について議論した。また、この会議の翌日、同じく当東京大学で開催されたワークショップ「日本の海洋空間計画に向けた課題」において前日の講演者を交え前日の会議の討議を踏まえて、我が国沿岸から公海域の管理について議論が展開された。
