Outline of Annual Research Achievements

主な活動は以下の4点である。
1:7月16,17日にカナダのトロント大学医学部と合同で、3D形態形成に関するシンポジウムを開催した。両国からのスピーカー以外にも、トロント大学医学部の研究者など約150名が参加するかなり大きな研究集会となり、活発な研究交流が行われた。トロント側の主催者であるHopyan博士は哺乳動物の初期形態発生の世界的な権威であり、今後も、交流を続けることを確認した。2019年の本研究班の班会議にHopyan博士を招き特別講演をお願いすることが決まっている。また、マイクロビーズに磁気をかけ細胞内外で自由に操り細胞や核、オルガネラに力を局所的に負荷するというYu Sun教授グループの研究は極めて斬新かつ有用と考えられたため、Yu Sun教授もお招きすることで話を進めている。
2:河西通博士をHarvard Medical School のSean Megason研究室へ派遣し、ゼブラフィッシュ胚における組織の3次元構造の発生機構の研究を共同研究で行った。細胞レベルでの挙動を定量的に解析している。In toto imagingなどの観測技術の習得と改良であり、この技術は主に武田班の体節形態形成の研究、および、上野研の神経管形成原理の研究に応用されている。
3:コスタリカでのツノゼミサンプルの採取は今年度は行っていないが、引き続き、現地協力者の西田博士とコスタリカ大学のハンソン博士にお願いして、サンプルを送付していただいている。今年度の支出として、西田氏の往復の旅費及び採集に必要な消耗品を計上している。

2: Research has progressed on the whole more than it was originally planned.

Reason

1:コスタリカ大学の昆虫学研究室とは、順調であり、さらに緊密な関係を築きたいと考えている。現在仲介者となっている西田賢二氏(コスタリカ大学)との共同研究はうまく行っており、ツノゼミ以外にも拡大させる方向で意見の一致をみている。
2:海外派遣に関しては、毎年、1~2名を半年~1年派遣するのが一番ふさわしいと考えている。今年は、河西1名を派遣している。海外からの研究者が滞在することも普通に行われているが、多くは先方の資金で賄われている。
3:これまでに、年に一度のペースで、海外研究機関との合同会議を開いている。UCアーバインのケン・チョー教授、オーストリアISTのハイゼンベルグ教授、トロント大学のホピヤン教授は、当該分野をリードする研究者であり、現在も研究交流を続けている。また、今年度は、今後極めて重要な技術となるであろう磁気ビーズ操作の新技術を開発中のYu Sun教授と直接にコンタクトできたことは重要であった。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

最終年度であり、基本的にはこれまで行ってきたプロジェクトを最終年度も継続するが、それ以外に、本研究課題が終了したのちも、研究班としての実態を維持できるように、以下の2つを進める。
1:HPの維持。
本領域のHPは、班員間の連絡、共通機器の使用予約、共有データのストックなどに使われ、共同研究活動の中心となっているが、業者に委託したシステムであるため、維持にかなりの費用が発生している。今後、支援が無くなったのちもこのシステムを維持するために、より安価で、研究者自身が情報のアップロード、システムの改良を極めて安価に行えるサービス(現在、イスラエルのwix社のものをテストしている)に移行中である。
2:海外との連携の維持。
31年度に合同会議を行うEMBL(バルセロナ研究所)を含めて4回の共同シンポジウムを開催しており、この連携を維持することが重要である。資金が無くなってからできることは限られているが、最低でも、4つの研究所の主だった研究者に対し、今後も維持するHPを通じて、年報を送ることを計画している。
