Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本領域は、我が国が世界をリードするハドロン物理、原子核物理、原子物理、分子科学分野の研究者の力を結集し、階層間の壁を超えた連携研究を推進するものである。異なる物質の階層間に出現する多彩なクラスター現象を通じ、階層をつなぎ、個々の階層を超えた量子多体系の普遍的な現象や法則を見出し、物質における階層構造の起源の解明を目指している。
総括班の目的はそれぞれの物質階層の分野をまたいで研究交流・連携を進め、共同研究を醸成し、本領域の目的達成を確実にすることである。そのため、総括班会議の開催、研究集会の開催、若手研究者の育成、検出器・測定技術の共有・機器の共用促進、国際活動支援、広報、アウトリーチ活動、外部評価のアレンジメントの7つの活動を主として行っている。
2年目に入って多様な公募研究が加わり、より戦略的に連携研究の支援を行った。まず、公募研究を中心にすえた第二回領域研究会を開催し、物質階層を横断する会を連携強化のために積極的に活用した。他領域との初めての合同研究会として新学術領域「量子ビーム応用」との合同検出器ワークショップを開催した。さらに、本領域主催の国際シンポジウム"International symposium on clustering as a window on the hierarchical structure of quantum systems"を開催し、世界をリードする研究者を招聘し、階層を横断する普遍的な物理について活発に議論した。このシンポジウムのポスターセッションでは若手を特にプロモートし、ポスター賞を出すなどした。国際レクチャーシリーズでも海外から顕著な研究者を招聘した。広報活動としては、領域ニュース5-7号を発行した。さらに今後の連携研究の方向性を議論する戦略会議を総括班が中心となり行った。以上のような活動により、連携強化がはかられた。

Current Status of Research Progress

1: Research has progressed more than it was originally planned.

Reason

国際シンポジウムInternational symposium on clustering as a window on the hierarchical structure of quantum systemsを行い、これを成功させた。原子分子、原子核、ハドロンで世界をリードする著名な招聘研究者による講演、計画研究や公募研究の最近の成果の発表とともに、ポスター賞を出すなど若手のプロモートも行った。このシンポジウムの前後にはサテライトとなる日仏シンポジウムの他、招聘した研究者による各大学、研究所での様々なレクチャー、セミナーも行われ、階層を超える科学の国際的な展開の契機ともなった。もう一つの大きな成功は、本新学術領域と新学術領域「宇宙観測検出器と量子ビームの出会い。新たな応用への架け橋。」との合同検出器シンポジウムの開催である。検出器、検出技術は両領域の研究において重要なベースとなるものであるが、それぞれの技術の強み、さらには学術的な側面も含めて深い議論、情報共有を行うことができた。さらに、様々な研究会、スクール、階層を横断する会(テーマを絞ったワークショップ的研究会)、国際レクチャーシリーズなども順調に行われ、活発な議論が進み、連携強化が図られた。特に、国際シンポジウム、他新学術領域との合同研究会などの新たな取り組みの成功は期待以上であったことから、当初の計画以上に進展している、とした。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

階層を繋ぐ連携研究をより進展させるため、総括班会議や戦略会議、そこで企画する研究会、ワークショップを通して、具体的な連携研究にむけた取り組みを加速したい。特に物質階層を横断する会、国際レクチャーシリーズを活用して、連携研究を進展させる。公募研究との連携を図るため、R2年度の初めには第三回、及び第四回研究会をオンライン研究会として行う予定である。前年度行った他領域との研究会、国際会議の開催なども進める予定である。
