Outline of Final Research Achievements

With the most important activity goal of "strong and mutual collaboration over the academic fields", we supported the followings; such as operation of many internal and international meetings/conferences, implementing the shared equipment, promotion of the international collaboration research using large-scale research facilities at overseas research centers, fostering young researchers, disseminating the research results domestically and internationally, and publishing newsletters and guidebooks related to efforts in this area. In addition, we established the Hydrogenomics Alliance, Japan, which will serve as a platform for the continuous maintenance and development of hydrogen science as "hydrogen-related science for making fully utilizing hydrogen".

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

日本発信の新たな学問領域として、水素を使いこなすための水素科学である「ハイドロジェノミクス」を提案・実践、国内外に発信した意義は大きい。特に、複数の水素機能の相乗効果としての「高次水素機能」の誘起により、従来の「水素エネルギー」の視点だけでなく、蓄電池や超伝導・太陽電池等の広域的なエネルギー分野全体へ展開できることを実証した。これらの視点は、広く政策的提言にも取り入れられ、各種研究プロジェクト等にも展開され始めている。また、本領域の成果に関連する国際レビュー論文の執筆を通じて、新たな学術分野としてのハイドロジェノミクスの国際的な認知度を短期間で高めた。
