Research Abstract

本特定領域では、スピン流の生成と消滅、そしてそれらを通して生じる物理的信号の変換制御に関わる学理を確立し、新規なデバイス応用への可能性を探索することを目的としている。総括班は、本領域全体のコーディネータ的役割を果たし、同時に内部評価を行う。本年度は、本特定領域の最終成果報告会として国際ワークショップ「5th International Workshop on Spin Currents」を2011年7月25日(月)～28日(木)の日程で仙台国際センターにおいて開催した。最近のスピン流研究において注目される議題として、(1)スピンホール効果やスピンゼーベック効果に代表される純粋スピン流現象、(2)スピン注入磁化反転や自励発振、電流誘起磁壁駆動などのスピントランスファー現象、(3)非磁性体、特に半導体へのスピン注入、(4)磁化の電気的あるいは光学的制御、(5)スピン流の創出と制御のための材料探索・プロセス・評価の5項目について、それぞれの分野において世界最先端の成果を上げている研究者を組織委員会で選出し、口頭発表をお願いした。それ以外にも、特定領域研究で得られた成果が、ポスター講演において数多く報告され、4日間にわたって活発な議論が展開された。また、各計画研究代表者および公募研究代表者から、領域設定期間中の成果に関するデータを収集した。そのデータを元にして、原著論文、解説、著書、国際会議発表、国内会議発表、報道(新聞、TV等)、受賞、特許、その他(若手育成など)、の9項目について成果のとりまとめを行った。
