Outline of Research at the Start

本領域では血球系、神経系、血管・リンパ管系、間葉系という間質を主に構成している4領域の計画研究をA01-A04として設置し研究を進める。これらの計画研究を効率よく進め、相互連携を図るために、総括班に上記研究実施計画に記載した4つの解析支援センターを設置した(間質探索イメージングセンター、シングルセル解析センター、細胞間クロストークを繙くバイオインフォマティックスセンター、遺伝子改変動物支援センター)。また、今回全く異なる4つの分野の異分野融合が必須であるために、総括班に融合研究促進経費を確保し、班間の共同研究で促進すべきものと判断した場合には、速やかに研究費を補充し融合研究をより一層推進する。

Outline of Final Research Achievements

The administrative group promoted the elucidation of the structure and function of multicellular stromal crosstalk by establishing analytical support systems and strengthening cross-project collaboration. Through integrated analysis of scRNA-seq, spatial transcriptomics, and in vivo imaging, the group enabled high-resolution visualization of the spatiotemporal reorganization of stromal architecture during disease progression. It also supported the identification of novel cell populations and disease-related molecules via the generation and analysis of knockout mice, contributing to the discovery of potential therapeutic targets. The findings offer a new perspective that positions the stroma as an active regulator of disease and provide a foundation for the future construction and international deployment of a “Stromal Cell Atlas.”

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

本総括班の成果は、「間質」を単なる支持構造ではなく疾患進展の調整因子と捉え直す革新的視座を提供した点で学術的意義が大きい。特に、空間情報を持つ単一細胞解析の技術支援とデータ統合を通じて、間質クロストークの構造的理解が飛躍的に進んだ。さらに、若手研究者の育成や国内外への成果発信を通じて、間質研究の社会的認知度を高めるとともに、難治性疾患への新たな介入戦略の基盤形成に貢献した。
