Outline of Final Research Achievements |
We adopted non-invasive measurements of brain (MEG, EEG, fMRI, TMS, tACS) to explore the human nature. The following interest results were obtained and published. (1) Joint attention is accomplished by inter-individual synchronization of the right anterior insular cortex. (2) The origin of spontaneous low-frequency oscillations of BOLD signals are highly intrinsic to the circulating blood. (3) Interictal slow and high-frequency oscillations can be a hallmark of the epileptogenic zone. (4) Functional alterations of neural oscillations and connectivity underlie the pathophysiology of dementia, mesial temporal lobe epilepsy and autism spectrum disorder. Taken together, neuronal synchronization plays an important role in supporting synchronous interactions between anatomically distinct regions of the human brain during cognitive tasks. We conclude that neuronal oscillation among the distributed brain areas is a key role for the human nature.
