Outline of Annual Research Achievements

1.発光性をもつ新マテリアルの合成:カルベン配位子とアルキニル基を有する一価の金錯体を合成してその挙動を調べたところ、機械的刺激に対して発光性が長波長シフトする場合と短波長シフトする場合の二通りが現れた(Dalton Trans. 2019, 7105)。また、メタ位に2つのイソシアノ基を持つ配位子をもちいて、二核金錯体を合成したところ、安定なマイクロ孔をもつ結晶が作成でき、内部に様々な小分子を格納できることがわかった(Chem. Eur. J. 2020, 735)。さらに、アシルボランを用いた新たな含ホウ素発光材料の合成に成功した(Chem. Eur. J. 2020, 2450)。この化合物は置換基によって発光波長がコントロールでき、かつメカノクロミズムも示す。
2. メカノレドックス反応・メカノ合成法の開発:圧電材料に機械的刺激を与えて生じるピエゾ電気を活用した、新しい有機合成法を開発した(Science 2019, 366, 1500)。また、ボールミル内で、鈴木カップリングが効率よく進行すること(Chem. Sci. 2019, 8202)、空気に不安定な錯体が効率よく合成出来ることを新たに見出した(Chem. Sci. 2019, 5837)。
3. 分子レベルの構造とマクロ形状の相関:テトラフェニルエテンなどのシンプルな炭化水素化合物の結晶が、加熱・冷却によってジャンプする現象を見つけ、その分子レベルの構造変化とマクロな結晶の形状変化の関係について詳しく調べた(Chem. Lett. 2020, 174)。また、結晶内に回転する部位を持つ金錯体について、静電相互作用のチューニングを行うと、回転に従って結晶構造が変化し、巨視的な結晶の伸長につながる現象を見つけ出した(Angew. Chem. Int. Ed. 2019, 18003)。

1: Research has progressed more than it was originally planned.

Reason

去年度想定した目標に対して研究を行ったところ以下に示すように、予想を超える成果を得た。イソシアニド金錯体とNHC金錯体を多数合成し、発光機能やジャンプ機能、超弾性や強弾性機能を目安に第二段階のスクリーニングを行った。その結果、これまでに合成したこと無いカルベン配位子をもつ金錯体の合成法を確立しつつ、強弾性機能をもつ発光性金錯体(論文投稿準備中)の開発に成功した。また、さまざまな化合物の結晶多形について結晶溶媒や温度のスクリーニングを行うことで、新しい含ホウ素発光材料(Chem. Eur. J. 2020, 2450)やマイクロ孔をもつ新しい金錯体結晶を開発することができた(Chem. Eur. J. 2020, 735) さらにジャンプ機能をもつ炭化水素(Chem. Lett. 2020, 174)を見出すことができた。とくに、新たに見出した金錯体からなるアンフィダイナミック結晶に関しては、単結晶X線構造解析を活用するだけでなく、固体NMRを用いた動的挙動についても詳細に検討し、その分子レベルでのダイナミックな挙動が、巨視的な結晶の形状に影響するメカニズムを明らかにすることができた(Angew. Chem. Int. Ed. 2019, 18003)。このような成果に加えて、ソフトクリスタル研究の新たな方向性として、ボールミルを活用した新しいマテリアル合成に関して研究を積極的に行い、世界初のメカノレドックス反応(Science 2019, 366, 1500)や、固体鈴木カップリングなどの開発(Chem. Sci. 2019, 8202)に成功している。この研究は、これまで有機溶媒の使用に依存していた、有機マテリアルの合成法を一新する新しい成果である。よって本年度は、「当初の計画以上に進展している」と判定した。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

新たな分子ドミノ型ソフトクリスタルを開発する戦略として、スクリーニング実験と計算化学の活用による高速探索系の確立と精密測定によるドミノ現象メカニズムおよび超弾性・強弾性のような特異な力学特性の解明を通じた「基本設計原理の確立」を軸に、これを活用したソフトクリスタルの新機能開発研究を行う。ポイントとしては、以下のようになる。(1)分子ドミノ相転移の計算化学による機構解明:平成30年度までの研究で新たに開発した「リバーシブルな分子ドミノ相転移」と我々が2015年に開発した「光励起による分子間相互作用の増強で結晶相転移する金錯体」の刺激に対する構造変化の機構、単結晶-単結晶相転移のメカニズムを計算化学と先端的な計測技術により明らかにする。(2)高速AFMによる相転移機構の解明と、微細構造の作り込みによる新材料開発。(3)ソフトクリスタルにおける共有結合の形成を活用した発光材料の合成:これまでの研究で、ボールミルによる強制的な撹拌と構造変化により、固体のクロスカップリング反応やメカノレドックス反応を実現したが、これらの反応の性能向上と、発光材料・有機材料の合成を行う。固体の結晶性が反応性に大きく関わっていることがわかったので、それを利用した選択的反応の開発を試みる。(4)発光性超弾性・強弾性結晶の作成:横浜市立大学の高見澤ら共同で、これらの機能を持つ金錯体結晶を見出す。(5) 金イソシアニド錯体の光照射による発光機能・機械的特性コントロール:光照射により結晶構造を相転移させ、その発光色を青から黄色に連続的に変化させる金イソシアニド錯体結晶を見つけている。この結晶はエラスティック特性を示すが光照射によってその挙動が変化する。本年度では、この光相転移のメカニズムを明らかにするとともに、光照射による結晶の機械的特性のコントロールを試みる。
