Outline of Final Research Achievements |
The study aims to develop the photo-function of soft crystals with molecular interface specificity. In particular, the molecular association by the wet-film formation process exhibits linearly polarized luminescence. It was expected that the transition dipole transition of the ligand by photoexcitation as the energy donor was related to the polarized luminescence of the acceptor, lanthanide ion. The result which proved this experimentally was obtained. The synthesis of a series of helical rare earth complexes in a unit of soft crystal and the system which explains the relation between the luminescence phenomenon and the distortion of the ligand field were found. For example, a chiral rare earth complex was synthesized and its structure was analyzed, and circularly polarized luminescence and its enhancement in aggregation were clarified. These results have reported widely in international journals as articles, reviews and books.
