Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本研究では、太陽光を利用して水素および過酸化水素を効率良く生産することを目的に、相補的な性質を有する金属錯体等の機能性分子系および金属酸化物等の無機半導体系をハイブリッド化して各々の特性を協奏的に向上させた高性能光触媒を開発し、これらを光合成模倣型の「二段階励起型水分解系」に適用し、高効率かつ高選択的な光エネルギー・物質変換系を実証することを目的とする。今年度は、各研究機関において以下のような成果が得られた。
京都大では、可視光水分解に有望な層状酸ハロゲン化物光触媒を新たに20種以上見出し、さらに新規のポリオキソメタレート系レドックスや正反応を選択的に促進する助触媒を新たに複数種見出して二段階励起型水分解系の高効率化を達成した。さらに、領域内共同研究により開発した「分子-半導体ハイブリッド型水分解系」において、貴金属を用いない系として世界最高効率での可視光水分解を実証した。
新潟大では、平面四座配位子を有する単核Fe錯体をニッケル多孔質電極に担持し、本錯体が水の電気化学的酸化触媒として高活性かつ安定に機能することを見出した。さらに、プロトン受容性カルボキシレート基を導入したFe錯体誘導体では、触媒反応速度が著しく増大することを見出した。
産総研では、NaCl水溶液中のBiVO4系光電極反応おいて、MnOxおよびCoOx助触媒が選択的に酸素または次亜塩素酸生成を促進することを見いだした。また、WO3粉末光触媒による次亜塩素酸生成おいて、各種助触媒を比較してPtが最も優れているメカニズムを電気化学的評価等から明確化した。
首都大ではアルミニウムポルフィリンを分子触媒として可視光により水素と過酸化水素が同時発生することを見出した。また新たに亜鉛ポルフィリンが水分解触媒機能を有することを見出した。さらに、人工光合成反応場としての無機ナノスクロール体の新規合成などの基礎化学について検討した。

Reason

本研究課題が目標とする、太陽光を利用した「水素」および「過酸化水素」製造のための高効率可視光水分解系の開発に関して、これらに用いるための可視光応答型半導体光触媒の新規開発、既存の半導体光触媒の合成法改良や表面修飾による高性能化、さらには水の2電子酸化による選択的な過酸化水素生成のための金属錯体や半導体材料の研究開発が順調に進んでいる。また班内での共同研究も順調に進んでいることから「おおむね順調に進展している」と評価した。しかし、これらのさらなる進展が必要であるとともに、領域内、特に天然光合成系との共同研究と融合が未だ十分に進んでいるとは言い難いため、今後はその進展にも注力する必要がある。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

各グループにおいて、高性能半導体光触媒と分子系光触媒の開発および性能向上を進めるともに、共同研究に基づいて、半導体-分子系のハイブリッド化に向けた両者の固定化方法の開発を進めて協奏反応場のの構築を実証する。さらに、人工光合成系実用化の1つの鍵となる生成物の分離回収の可能性を実証するため、二段階水分解系および光電極系において、気相への水素生成と液相への過酸化水素生成および濃縮のための材料および反応システムの設計を進め、その実証を行う。最終的には、半導体光触媒、分子光触媒、それらのハイブリッド系、各系における詳細な反応機構、さらには天然光合成から得られた指導原理を統合した二段階励起型水分解系および光電極系を構築し、可視光照射下において水を効率良く分解し、その酸化・還元先生物を容易に分離出来るシステムを実証し、人工光合成実用化の可能性を示す。
