Outline of Final Research Achievements

We have synthesized and investigated a variety of supported alloy nanoparticle (or metal nanoparticle, especially Au nanoparticle)/solid acid-base hybrid catalysts in which alloy nanoparticle (or metal nanoparticle) catalysts showing specific functions work in concert or in concert with multiple catalysts having independent functions. Based on the obtained knowledge, we have constructed highly functional hybrid catalysts that can realize various reactions, such as intermolecular C-C bond formation, which cannot be achieved by single-element catalyst systems, by the cooperative action of two or more catalytically active species.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

異種元素をナノ粒子内あるいは,分子レベルで適切な距離・位置に配置することによって協働的な触媒作用を誘起し,単独の触媒よりも高い変換効率・選択性と環境調和性を示す触媒系をいくつか見出した.これらの触媒系について主たる活性サイトと近接した異なる活性サイト(酸塩基・酸化還元性など)の協働作用の作動原理に対する理解を深化させた.得られた知見は,触媒機能の自在な制御に資するものであり,優れた変換効率や活性能を有する触媒系の設計指針を示している.この指針をもとに新規高機能触媒の構築が可能となる.
