Outline of Annual Research Achievements

植物は栄養条件に応じて成長のパターンを変化させる。植物の根は栄養の獲得と併せて地上部を支え水分を吸収する役割があり、このような栄養に応じた成長パターン変化は根の持つ様々な機能の発現の中で起こるものと考えられる。本研究は植物の栄養や水分環境に対する応答について分子遺伝学的解析に加えて植物組織や細胞の力学的な側面からの理解を深め、これらの解析を統合することを通じて、植物が持つ環境に応じた応答能力の力学的な構造を理解し、新たなモジュール構造等を提案することを目的として進めている。
本年度の研究実績を列挙する。植物の栄養条件に応じた応答研究については、栄養条件に応じた根の成長パターン変化に異常を示す変異株について、解析をさらに進め原因遺伝子を特定すると共にその役割についての推定を進めた。栄養に対する屈性現象、栄養屈性については主根と側根の栄養屈性現象の発現の仕方が異なることや、これまでに明らかしてきた栄養屈性を引き起こす栄養素アンモニア以外の栄養素が、栄養素そのものに対する屈性現象は引き起こさないものの、アンモニアに対する応答性を大きく変化させることを明らかにした。根の力学的な測定系については、樹脂製の細い柱の間に根を伸長させて柱の変位をもとに根のヤング率を測定するシステムを用いて、ホウ素栄養条件による影響を見たところ、ある範囲ではホウ素濃度と見かけのヤング率に正の相関が認められた。力学的刺激に対する植物の応答については、ポプラ以外の複数の植物種について毎日5分間の振動が成長に及ぼす影響を見たところ、植物種によって影響が再現性よく見えるものと影響が見られないものがあることがわかった。
