Outline of Research at the Start

本研究課題では、水を介した相互作用による精密な配列・配向制御と高度な機能発現に焦点を当て、水圏で作動する電子・イオン機能材料や、水環境合成による生分解性・軽量強靭材料を創製し、そのための基礎学理を構築する。
研究期間内では、以下のの3点を重点的に取り組む。
(1)水圏で配列し、イオンの検出・選択的な輸送および電子機能を発現する液晶分子の創製
(2)有機無機融合ナノ結晶・無機コロイド液晶の高度な配列・配向制御を通した生分解性・軽量強靭材料の創製
(3)集合体構築過程における水・材料の構造・動態の解明及び制御
このうち、(1)、(2)は領域内A03と、(3)はA02との連携により推進する。

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

加藤(研究代表者)は、基盤技術である超分子・分子集合体の設計および合成技術を駆使して、水圏機能材料を構築した。
水圏で働く水処理膜において、液晶構造の自己組織化を活用し、水チャネル構造を有する水処理膜を構築した。A02-2鷲津(計画・研究代表者)と一次元(カラムナー液晶)および三次元(双連続キュービック液晶)の水チャネルにおける水和構造計算を活用し、イオンの検出や選択的輸送機能との相関を明らかにした(Sci. Adv.誌)。さらに新規双頭型イオン性スメクチック液晶を基盤とする2次元液晶ナノ構造水処理膜を開発した(ACS Appl. Mater. Interfaces誌)(A02熊木(公募・研究代表者)。これらは優れたウイルス除去能や選択的イオン透過能を有する水処理膜として機能することを示した。また、一次元(カラムナー液晶)および三次元(双連続キュービック液晶)のイオンチャネルを有する液晶ナノ構造水処理膜について、ウイルスカクテル溶液からのウイルス除去能を報告した(Polym. J.誌)。
また、A01-2福島(計画・研究分担者)、A03-2田中賢(計画・研究代表者)と水素結合により形成する異方的なポリマー会合体を開発し、その細胞応答を報告した(Macromolecules誌)。
牧浦(研究分担者)は、加藤(研究代表者)と水と気体の界面(水圏界面)における特異性を利用した分子配列制御に向け、表面圧縮度が液晶性分子の配列状態に与える影響を調べた。生体分子とコンジュゲートした新規メソゲン分子について、水圏界面で形成される単分子膜の構造と分子配向の関係を明らかにした(Bull. Chem. Soc. Jpn.誌)。また、水圏界面における2次元錯形成反応を利用することで、高い電気伝導性を有する配向錯体ナノシートを開発した(ACS Appl. Mater. Interfaces誌)。

Reason

加藤(研究代表者)の基盤技術である超分子・分子集合体および液晶材料の設計合成技術を駆使して、選択的な輸送機能・分離機能を発現するイオン機能性液晶を創製した。坂本・内田(それぞれ研究協力者)と協力し、これらの分子の配列化・重合・孔径制御を行い、イオン性官能基からなるナノチャネル構造を有する自己組織化薄膜を形成させた。特に、A02鷲津(研究代表者)と分子動力学シミュレーションによるイオン機能性液晶の自己集合によるナノ構造形成の解析に成功し、これらの分子が形成するチャネル内の水の状態を明らかにした。これは大きな成果であり今後のナノ自己組織化膜の設計に大きく貢献すると考えられる。さらに、開発した双頭型重合分子からなるスメクチック液晶水処理膜は99.9999%以上の極めて高いウイルス除去能を示し、従来の棒状重合分子からなる液晶水処理膜よりも優れた透水性を示した。、A02熊木(研究代表者)らと共同して膜の構造解析も行い、均一な安定した表面であることを示した。また、液晶水処理膜によるウイルスカクテル溶液からのウイルス除去に関する知見を得た。
水圏界面において、生体認識部位を有するメソゲン分子の気液界面における構造形成について、牧浦(研究分担者)と共同して調べた。また、水/液晶界面における生体分子の認識に向け、生体分子誘導体を有する新規両親媒性メソゲン分子を設計、合成した。さらに、水圏界面における分子配向制御により、多孔性錯体ナノシートの中で最も高い電気伝導を実現した。
また、A01福島(研究分担者)およびA03田中賢(研究代表者)と共同して生体親和性を示す水素結合性ポリマーを開発し、その細胞応答について調べた。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

水圏機能材料の基盤となる分子設計・分子集合体の構築という観点により、さらに高機能性の水圏機能材料を構築する。すなわち、A01、A02やA03および公募研究と共同して、イオン機能性、バイオ・環境機能性、メカノ機能性を発揮する水圏機能材料を、新たに創製し、その学理を追求していく。さらに、令和4年から参画した新たな公募メンバーとも水圏機能材料の創製に向けて共同研究をスタートする。
新たに得られた水圏機能材料である水処理膜をさらに精密化した膜をナノ構造制御により構築していく。これらの膜のさらなる選択性や、また、ウイルス・有害化学物質などの有害物の高度な分離性能を向上させていく。このためには、A02との共同研究により、ナノチャネル内の水の構造を、水圏共通重水素化化合物(重水など)を積極的に活用し、SPring-8の軟X線測定(A02原田)、赤外分光測定(A02池本)やJ-PARCの中性子散乱測定(A02瀬戸)、テラヘルツ分光(A02菱田)により水分子と液晶分子・高分子の相互作用や、水分子の水素結合構造を明らかにして、水圏機能材料の学理を構築する。また、より精密なシミュレーションにより(A02鷲津、渡辺)、水圏機能材料の基盤となる分子集合体の構築のための分子設計やさらなる機能化に関する知見を得ていく。これらをA03と共同して、新しい水圏機能性ナノ輸送材料として展開していく。
また、水圏合成により構築する無機有機ハイブリッド異方性微粒子と、A01が合成する様々な機能性生分解性分子・π共役分子・光機能分子・生体機能などを複合化させて、あらたな環境調和材料、バイオ機能材料を構築していく。
A01-1内でも、加藤・牧浦の共同研究により、気液界面において、分子認識部位を有する液晶材料の設計・挙動解析を行い、新たなセンシング機能を有する水圏機能材料を構築していく。
