Outline of Research at the Start

本研究では神経系を構成する間質性細胞を包括的に解析し、実質細胞の機能異常に紐づく間質組織変容の解明を進める(神経系間質リテラシー)。特に様々な最新技術を駆使し、脳発達期における間質性細胞ネットワークの理解を進め、その異常がもたらす疾患発症メカニズムの解明を目指すと同時に、中枢神経系疾患モデルマウスを用いて、複雑性間質性細胞クロストークが齎す実質細胞の機能変容という観点から新たな疾患発症メカニズムの解明を目指す。

Outline of Final Research Achievements

This study was aimed to comprehensively understand the interstitial cells that comprise the nervous system, and to elucidate new mechanisms of disease onset from the perspective of functional changes in the interstitial cells that are associated with abnormalities in parenchymal cell function and complex interstitial cell crosstalk that leads to functional changes in parenchymal cells.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

本研究は、神経系において時空間的に変動する間質性細胞の分布動態、遺伝子発現情報、多様性ならびに複雑性細胞クロストークを明確にし「間質性細胞の多者間相互作用が如何にして実質細胞に機能変容をもたらすのか」という学術的に極めて重要な問いに踏み込んだ。これらは、正常脳形成段階における間質性細胞の役割に関する理解を大きく前進させると同時に、どういった間質性細胞間クロストークの揺らぎが疾患発症の原因になるのかという病態発症メカニズムに関する新たな概念の創出にも繋がる可能性を秘めている。
