Outline of Research at the Start

ヒトとロボットの共生社会の実現には、ヒトとロボットとの自然かつ真のコミュニケーションが必要不可欠である。「喜怒哀楽」という個の情動から、「嫉妬・不公平感」といったヒトや動物がもつ本質的な社会情動を理解し、さらに優れた社会情動モデルを構築するため、本研究では、最近明らかになりつつある神経科学ベースの機能モジュールも組み込んだ新たなヒト共生ロボットの開発を目指す。その過程で、様々シミュレーションを行い得られる仮説を実験動物班に提供し検証・実証を繰り返すことにより、モデルの改善を行い、また嫉妬や不公平感を生み出す神経メカニズムの解明に貢献する。

Outline of Final Research Achievements

This study investigates the mechanisms underlying social emotions like envy and inequity aversion by integrating neural and behavioral data from macaques and humans. Using multilayered multimodal Latent Dirichlet Allocation (mMLDA), we modeled different strategies of reward comparison in monkeys. The model best fitting the data suggested that monkeys respond to objective reward differences without inferring others' mental states. In human studies, mMLDA successfully categorized emotional states from physiological signals, with about 75% accuracy. Additionally, we developed a novel method - non-negative rank-reduced regression - to analyze interactions among the medial prefrontal cortex, lateral hypothalamus, and midbrain dopamine areas. This revealed distinct roles in transforming and transmitting social reward information. Our findings offer new insights into how social emotions are computed and represented in the brain.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

本研究は、従来の基本情動中心のモデルを超えて、「不公平感」や「嫉妬」といった社会的情動の計算原理と神経基盤を統合的に明らかにした点で学術的に重要である。特に、多層マルチモーダルLDAや非負ランク縮約回帰法など新たな分析手法の導入により、脳内での社会的価値情報の処理メカニズムを可視化できた。また、情動の理解はメンタルヘルスや人工知能の感情理解にも貢献するものであり、今後の社会実装に向けた基盤的知見を提供する点でも社会的意義が高い。
