Research Abstract |
There is a strong tendency that the dialect of capital area is spreading in the provinces. There is, on the other hand, a central city of culture in each province, and we have also a tendency of having a common dialect in Huenced by the dialect of the central city. In Kansai district Osaka dialect has a strong influence on the dialects of the area and is even extending into the Tokyo district. For example, "ya" expression grew common in the Tokyo district where "da" expression has been commonly used. "Ya"as an auxiliary verb in Osaka dialect means "be"as a verb in English. "Ya" expression was born about 140 years ago and grew to be Widely spoken among the women in Osaka.
