Research Abstract |
In order to elucidate organic characteristics of volcanic ash soils, Andisols and contribution of vegetation to volcanic ash soil formation, analysis of amino acid and non-cellulose monosaccharide was performed on Andisols and their vegetation , e.g. Miscanthus sininsis for melanic Andisols and Fagus crenata for fulvic Andisols. Thus, I compared amino acid composition between melanic and fulvic Andisols, amino acid composition of soil organic matters between melanic and fulvic Andisols, and amino acid composition between Andisols and their vegetation. In addition to them, analysis of soil micro-organisms such as fungi were carried out to examine the contribution of soil microbes to pedogenesis. The results of amino acid composition were analysed by pricipal component analysys (PCA), one of multivariate analyses, to recognize the relationship of individual participant on pedogenesis in Andisols. PCA scores of amino acid composition of Andisols distribute separately from their vegetation, alluvial soils used for reference to Andisols, and soil fungi. No difference of amino acid composition of Andisols formed under different climatic condition in spite of difference between surface and non-surface horizons of Andisols. As same as Andisols, PCA scores of their humic and fulvic acids indicate that soil organic matters composition is different from vegetation of Andisols, soil fungi andalluvial soils. PCA scores of non-cellulose monosaccharide composition of Andisols distribute separately from vegetation, soil microbes and alluvial soils, indicating characteristic monosaccharide composition of Andisols. Totally examined, amino acid and non-cellulose monosaccharide composition of Andisols is consistent irrespective of melanic or fulvic Andisols, of climatic conditions, or of vegetation.
