Research Abstract |
1.We set up first the rat esophageal system using the Olympus thin, rigid Selfoscope. For rat esophageal endoscopy it is suitable to use the rigid Selfoscope, SES1711D or SES1717D with 1.7 mm in diameter. By using videoendoscopy, the resolution capacity and color performance of the endoscopic images is significantly better. The videoebdoscopic image linked to the Selfoscope can be digitally coded and stored on a photograficmedium and U-matic video tape. 2.Long time endoscopic examination for rat esophagus was performed by continuous air feeding by piping of rat stomach through the catheter. 3.The production of esophageal varices in the rat is greater in Wistar ST rats weighing about 300g with 20-gauge partial portal vein ligation. It is efficient and economical for Wistar ST rats 2-weeks afer 20-gauge portal vein ligation to be used a rat esophageal varices model. 4.The rat esophageal varices bleeding model was produced by stinging from the rat EIS tube by a 30-gauge EIS needle after intra-caudalvenous injection of 1000U heparin. The estimate of the grade of rat esophageal bleeding was decided the time from start of the bleeding to hemostasis. 5.Hemostasis of various types of methods was performed using this rat esophageal varices bleeding model. (1)Endoscopic injection sclerotherapy(EIS) is the most efficient hemostatic method. For sclerosing agents, EO and AS were both effective. (2)EIS was superior than electrocoagulation and heater probe method. (3)For vasoreactive drugs, propranolol and vasopressin were both effective, but vasopressin was more effevtive than propranolol, significantlly. (4)Combination therapy with EIS and vasopressin or propranolol was not statistically significant for hemostasis of rat esophageal varices bleeding model. (5)Scattering of thrombin is inferior than others but it is easy hemostatic method. 6.This project was useful for clinical methods hemostasis for variceal ruputure bleeding.
