Research Abstract |
I have also found the large differences between Sanskrt, Pali and Tibetan Sutras and the Chinese Sutras translated by Zhiquian* Reading them comparatively, I have been researching, why and how Zhiquian translated them. and I have been thinking, what he based on. So we have some characteristics as form and contents. 1)When Zhiquian translated indian Sutras into Chinese, he quoted from ten kinds of Chinese classical literatures in Kan-Gi-Bookseries* 2)And then he translated them being influenced by his own life experiences. 3)He understood Sunyata-thought as substantial and structual, that was relative. 4)He changed them partly on purpose, that was political and moral. 5)He interpreted the sacred Sutras profitably and worldly. According to these Charateristics, we have found in not only Zhiquian but also some translators of the 2rd-3rd AD of China.
