荒廃熱帯林の修復に関する生理生態学的研究

Research Abstract

熱帯荒廃地の修復をおこなう際、植栽される苗は高温、強光、乾燥に曝されるため、生育が困難である。平成17年度の研究では植栽苗が受けるストレスを軽減させるための遮光物を設計し、マレーシア、クアラルンプール郊外の荒廃裸地において、植生被覆のない裸地とイネ科草原に設置した。遮光物導入によって、植栽苗が受ける各種ストレスを軽減させることができるか、遮光物内外の微気象を測定するとともに苗を植栽し、苗の生理生態特性を比較することで遮光物の導入効果を評価した。
微気象観測の結果、遮光物の外に比べ遮光物内では、光強度、温度、水蒸気圧飽差とも低い値を示した。遮光物内に直達光が当たる時間帯では光強度の値が外部とほぼ同じ値を示したが、温度、水蒸気圧飽差の値は外部ほど急激に上昇しなかった。遮光物内の温度、水蒸気圧飽差の値は苗の生育に最適な値ではなかったが、外部の生育に厳しい気象条件より緩和されていた。
平均苗高約54cmのDyera costulata(Miq.)Hook.f.(キョウチクトウ科)を遮光物内と外に植栽し、今回設計した遮光物の導入効果をD.costulataの葉の光合成反応から評価した。植栽前と植栽2週間後に、葉の光飽和光合成速度(Pn_<max>)と光阻害の指標となる夜明け前のFv/Fm値を測定した。Pn<max>は午前と午後に測定した。植栽後のPn_<max>は、植栽前に比べ全調査区で低下傾向にあった。植栽2週間後では、午前中のPn<max>が処理区間で明瞭な差がなかったが、午後に遮光物のない調査区で大きく低下した。光合成速度の低下は、高い葉-大気水蒸気圧差(VPD<leaf>)による気孔開度の低下が原因であると考えられた。Fv/Fmの値は、遮光物下では0.7前後と高い値を示したが、全天の調査区では0.5以下の値を示し、乾燥や強光によって葉の光合成系IIが慢性的な光阻害を受けていることが明らかになった。以上の結果から、遮光物を熱帯の裸地に導入することにより、全天条件下に植栽した場合に苗が受ける光合成低下と慢性的な光阻害を緩和する効果があることが明らかになった。
