Research Abstract |
We developed the apparatus for measuring kinetic visual acuity (KVA) , dynamic visual acuity (DVA) and visual acuity with short exposure time. The features are as follows : (1) The target velocity is variable in wide range from static up to 100km/h, in two direction forward and backward, horizontal. We can set in 7 stage of velocity in above range. (2) The target presented position are 70m-4m in forward and +-2.0 degrees in horizontal. (3) The exposure time is variable in 7 stages from 1/1000sec to 1sec. (4) The four target sizes are available, target colors can be selected from white, red, green, blue and yellow, background illuminance is in 0.1 to 200cd/m2. Further, We checked this apparatus performance and confirmed the performances. In addition, We measured the kinetic visual acuity for subjects. The results are : the kinetic visual acuity decreased slowly with increasing target velocity up to 100Km/h. The KVA also depends on background illuminance of target. From these, the developed apparatus is considered to be useful in solving ocular fatigue and traffic ophthalmology.
