Research Abstract

本研究の目的は感覚情報から外界のイメージを再構築する脳の階層的情報処理のプロセスを実験的研究と理論的研究の両面から分析し解明することである。
実験的研究では視覚系を中心に網膜から連合野にいたる各レベルでの処理内容の分析とトップダウン的修飾の研究が進められた。網膜では金子章道が双極細胞のカルシウムチャンネルに一過性と持続性の2種類があることを示し、視覚野では佐藤宏道が運動方向選択性が皮質内の制御過程で起こることを示し、光学的計測法により200ms以上続く促通現象を見つけた。藤田一郎は連合野で記憶の基礎となるシナプス長期増強を発見した。田中啓治は光学的計測法で側頭葉(TE野)の図形コラムの配列を調べ、複数のコラムが重複して複雑な図形特徴を表現していることを示し、酒田英夫は頭頂連合野後部で3Dコンピュータグラフィックスを使って立体視によって平面の傾きや凹凸などの三次元的特徴を識別するニューロンを調べた。三上章允は上側頭溝周辺で形と回転方向の組合せを識別するニューロンを見つけ、岩村吉晃は体性感覚野後部の多感覚ニューロンの視覚受容野がエサを取る道具の先まで広がることを見つけた。
理論的研究では杉江昇が動く物体を追跡し、図と地を分離するシステムを構築し、石井直宏は注視機能を導入して顔を背景から分離するニューラルネットを構築した。乾敏郎は顔の類似性と男女の識別で心理物理的な類似性空間の主成分表現とニューラルネットの内部表現が一致することを示した。永野俊は空間的配置の認知モデルとして局所的な視知覚空間を組み合わせて広い空間の認知地図を記憶し想起するシステムを構築した。石川真澄は視覚認知の文脈依存性の研究で、情景から文脈を抽出するモデルを構築し、岩田彰は低次認識回路網から入力を受ける高次連想回路網で概念を連想するシステムを構築した。星宮望はランダムで対称的な相互結合を持つ神経回路網で時系列の作業記憶の機能を実現した。
