Research Abstract

今後の物性物理学の主要研究課題の一つである複雑系の問題に、高度な極限的レーザースペクトロスコピーの手法を適用することは、複雑系物質の物性と機能の研究に新しい切り口を拓く可能性をもち、今後の大きな発展が期待できる分野である。しかも、わが国にはこの領域で世界に誇るべき数々の業績があり、また優秀な中堅の研究者や活発な若手研究者も多い。そこで、本総合研究では、これらの力を結集し、的確なターゲットに向けて研究の飛躍的な進展をはかるべく、重点領域研究としてこの分野を申請する目的で、この領域の最も活発な研究者約20名を集めて、調査、検討、討論を行なった。まず第1回目の会合では、極限レーザースペクトロスコピーは、複雑なものの中から特定な事柄に関する情報のみを選択的にうまく抽出するという機能をもつため、この分野の研究には特に有効であること、ならびに、この領域の研究が世界的に見て最近非常に急速に盛んになっており、重点領域研究として早急に取り組むことが必要であることが確認された。さらに、複雑系の研究のために今後開発すべき極限レーザースペクトロスコピーの手法および対象となる複雑系に関する一般的な討論を行ない、調査すべきいくつかの項目を決めた。その後、関係する研究者の研究進展状況と外国における研究動向の調査研究などを行ない、その結果を持ち寄って第2回目の研究会を開いた。そこでは、対象とすべき複雑系とテーマを厳選し、また研究目的や期待される成果などを検討した。その結果、十分焦点を絞った形での重点領域研究の輪郭がはっきりしたので、これに基づいて申請書を作成し、重点領域研究に直接参加する予定の研究者の賛同を得るところまでまとめ上げ、これを申請した。なお、その間に、複雑系の典型物質としての立場から生体物質の物性的な研究を行なっている研究者の小さな会合も開き、その意見も参考にさせてもらった。
