In the first year 1993 of our project we focused our activities to the study of state of the art of multi-media environment in the business, and inteneded to collect basic and conventional researches for multi-media utilization in the society and economics. Furthermore, in the context of globalization of Japanese firms, we made a research about the data communication among Japanese headquarter and their branches (production lines and factories) abroad, based upon the questionnaire to Japanese joint venture companies. The results were presented in several workshops, and the analytical comments were summarized in the paper ^<1)2)>.
As a result, it was found that the theory of dynamical system is effective to analyze the socio-economic problems having complex features and factors. Moreoever, we had a perspective that mathematical economic methods are useful to analyze the role of information which is tightly combinded with the digital data and images in the production system, department of design (research) and development.
In the second year 1994, we made our project more fruitful by collecting amount of documents applied to our studies.
In terms of the theoretical contribution of our project, we stressed on the optimization of unified system of production and logistics. Namely, we published several works in 1994 and 1994 in the fields of basic theory of dynamic programming ^<9)10)11)12>, reliability theory and queuing systems^<5)6)>, optimal policy for stochastic systems ^<7)8)>, and the analysis of probabilistic multi-step decision problems ^<13)14)15)16)>. Furthermore, in relation to the necessity to design a nobel system for data analysis in the multi-media environment, we published several papers on the problem for forecasting the bankruptcy ^<3)>, and the information retrieval for time series data^<4)>.
