Research Abstract

The aim of this study is to find some characteristics of mother-infant interactions in autistic infants.
5 non-handicapped infants and their mothers, 5 non-autistic infants and their mother and autistic infants and ther mothers were observed.
Non-handicapped infants showed many intentions to communicate for their mothers. Non-autistic high risk infants also showed some intentions to communicate for their mothers. But, their intentions were weaker than non-handicapped infants. Autistic high risk infants showed no intention to communicate for their mothers.
At 3yers, follow-up survey was conducted. Non-handicapped infants showed normal developments. In nonautistic high risk infants, they had no sign of autism. Autistic high risk infants, however, 3 infants satisfyied setablished standard of autism, 2 infants showed some autistic signs, but they did not satisfy establish standard.
