Research Abstract

「あかり」衛星による連続体な近-中間赤外線による測光観測結果を用いることにより、多環芳香族炭化水素(PAH)による特徴的な放射特性を捉えられることを示した。つまり、「あかり」衛星では、PAH放射が強い銀河を、分光せずとも、測光観測のみで同定することができる。この特徴を活かし、私たちは、PAH放射の強い銀河を同定する方法を確立した。この方法では、7および11μm、または、9および15μmで定義される色で、非常に赤くなる天体に注目する。この色は、フラックス比で8倍に相当し、活動銀河核やその他PAH以外の放射特性では再現できない色である。つまり、これら赤外線で明るいPAH銀河は、AGNではなく、純粋に爆発的な星生成活動によって明るくなっている天体と考えられる。近傍では、赤外線光度が10^<12>太陽光度を超える超光度赤外線銀河は、全赤外線光度に比べて、PAH放射が弱く、AGNの全光度への寄与、または、PAH放射のダストによる吸収があると考えられる。一方、「あかり」で見つかった赤方偏移1付近のPAH銀河は。超光度赤外線銀河でありながら.PAH放射が強く、中間赤外線でのスペクトル特性は、純粋なより小規模な爆発的星生成銀河のそれと矛盾しないことを示した。
